OUR HERITAGE WORK
Helga Todd Teachers’ Education Foundation has been working with international colleagues for the past 18 years.
It was established as a charity in 2008 by our Founder Robert Ram Todd.
We were inspired by Ram to initiate several exciting work programmes, including setting up Young Volunteer schemes, teacher training courses, and CPD work.
Below is a list of the early projects with which we were involved and on which we have been building in the last 8 years. [More recent work is described on a separate page]
From 2009 the following teaching placements commenced –
Young Volunteer Schemes
2009 Helga Todd Newly Qualified Teacher Awards commenced with 4 participants.
2010 5 awardees teach in 2 schools in India
2011 7 Cambridge awardees teach at 4 schools
2012 9 Cambridge awardees working at a range of schools in eg Chennai, Dehradum,
2012 Helga Todd Early Years TT Training Course group 2 commences
2013 4 awardees are placed at 2 centres in Baru Sahib and Dehradun
2014 Group 2 complete HT Early Years TT course
2016 New YVT scheme recommences with Oxford University TT department.
2018 7 awardees from Oxford Brookes TT department spend summer vacation at 5 centres in Dehradun and Chennai.
CPD 1 and 2 for Primary and Secondary Teachers
2014 – 2015
CPD 1 Teaching and Learning course introduced and rolled out across 12 Delhi schools
2015 – 2017
A continuation of CPD 1 and commencement of advanced teachers mentoring scheme.
2018
Pilot CPD 2 programme –
April/May 2018 – School Development strand – extension of CPD 1 programme
November/December 2018 – Early Years strand – Professional Development programme for GHPS schools. Nursery/KG teachers.
Phonics training for teachers at GHPS primary sections.
CPD programme for a group of teachers at AKAL academies in Baru Sahib
Autumn 2018 – Mentor development programme for primary and lower secondary teachers.
2019 – DSGMC CPD 2 programme terminating at outset of 2020 after Covid outbreak.
Over 5 years, 900 teachers received CPD training;
=130 mentors trained; 50 Early Years Practitioners;
